An Orange fiber optic cable was accidentally cut by a public works company in La Chapelle-Gonaguet on Monday, January 11 at 11:15 a.m. This is what the operator announced in a press release.

Consequence: 10,400 private Internet customers and a disrupted 3G and 4G mobile network in the department. The sector concerned includes Mareuil-en-Périgord, Verteillac, Ribérac and Tocane-Saint-Apre, as well as several surrounding municipalities.

According to Orange, “the technical teams have been on site since the end of the morning and are doing their utmost to replace damaged cables and restore service”. Full reconnection is expected “in the evening or tomorrow morning depending on the technical difficulties encountered”.

Some subscribers, who had received an SMS in the middle of the day promising them a recovery this Monday at the end of the day, received a second a little later announcing a resolution of the failure postponed to Tuesday 12 at the end of the morning.
