All about the SLS rocket, NASA’s new heavy launcher

August 10, 2022Ben Parker

The most powerful rocket built by NASA since the Apollo program is biding its time. Developed since 2011, this apricot-colored launcher will be responsible for sending crews to the Moon during the decade. If the SLS is not the future (too expensive and not reusable), we will have to rely on it for a few […]

Japan’s sakura trees bloom earlier due to climate change

June 3, 2022Ben Parker

Sakura trees are beautiful when they bloom, arousing fascination in many people. A recent study, however, suggests that this same flowering is increasingly earlier and would coincide with the increase in temperatures in Japan. However, this can have consequences on the surrounding fauna. Ever earlier flowering The term “sakura” refers to the ornamental cherry trees […]

Lobsters develop malformations in the presence of submarine cables

May 28, 2022May 30, 2022Colin Walker

A European study recently revealed an example proving that submarine power cables can have undesirable consequences on marine animal species. The work focuses on lobster, some specimens of which may indeed present malformations. Developmental impairment In 2016, we unveiled a world map of submarine cables. It must be said that the seabed is home to […]

Study illustrates irreversibility of ice shelf collapse

May 19, 2022May 19, 2022Alex

Fieldwork in northern Greenland suggests that once collapsed, the ice shelves are no longer able to reform unless the climate cools significantly. Also, a simple return to pre-collapse conditions is not enough. The results were published in the journal Nature Communications on May 9. The polar caps and the ice shelves that accompany them are […]

Climate: Researchers report altered ‘ocean memory’

May 10, 2022May 10, 2022Mary Adams

A team of researchers has found that with continued global warming, the ocean is gradually losing its “memory”. These results, published on May 6 in the journal Science Advances, have strong implications for seasonal predictability and the socio-economic sectors that depend on it. The ocean has considerable thermal inertia. A familiar example is the seaside […]

  • Theranica, a digital therapeutics company, has conducted a study comparing the effectiveness of Remote Electrical Neuromodulation (REN) to standard-care medications for the acute treatment of chronic migraine. The study concludes that REN, administered by the flagship therapeutic wearable of Theranica, provides an effective non-pharmaceutical alternative to the standard-care abortive medications in individuals affected by chronic migraine. Brian Grosberg, director of the Hartford Healthcare Headache Program, said chronic migraine is a disabling condition, which is diagnosed when a migraine patient experiences at least 12 headache days per month. According to Brian Grosberg, the recent consensus statement of the American Headache Society recommends that, to avoid medication overuse, patients with migraine should be instructed to limit medication use to two headache days per week. Brian Grosberg said that chronic migraine patients often have four, five, or six headache days per week. To treat patients effectively and safely, they should expand the first-line standard-care treatment options beyond the medications. The study also provides a strong comparison of REN to prescribed medications, further reinforcing the conclusion that REN provides a much-needed alternative to acute migraine treatment without compromising the effectiveness of the treatment.
