WhatsApp Launches Its Group Video Call Feature

Technology

Back in May, WhatsApp had announced that it would be launching a feature for group video calls. Now, the function is alive, allowing up to four individuals to take part in a video conference. The Facebook-owned instant messaging service is all set to welcome users who can expand the video chat experience. It needs to be noted that WhatsApp has also launched Group Voice Calls. In the long run, it means that four people can become a part of a group call — either audio or video. Considering that FaceTime is expected to bring the same in its iOS 12, the feature is intriguing enough.

Unlike FaceTime, however, WhatsApp Video and Voice Group calls would be available on multiple devices, which is likely to be a popularization factor. To make things even awesome, WhatsApp says that the feature does not require high-end network conditions. Group video calls would work even if the network conditions are not on par. The platform also means that video/voice calls would be end-to-end encrypted, even though four people are now part of the appeal. The feature would be first available for the Android and iOS versions of WhatsApp; though, other platforms can expect it soon.

Using the group call feature is as simple as making a phone call, says WhatsApp. On a related note, the calling interface of WhatsApp is entirely relatable and less confusing for most people. Now, a person can start a simple WhatsApp voice/video call and add further participants using the Add Participant button. This feature is expected to increase the overall popularity of WhatsApp, considering that millions of people use the platform on a regular basis. The feature would be added to WhatsApp via an update. The best part is that all WhatsApp users will be able to use it regardless of the platforms.
