If you saw Star Wars: The rise of Skywalker, you will remember that there are a couple of moments when Finn tells Rey that he needs to confess something, but by the time the final credits run, we are never shown what he wanted to tell him so urgently.
The fanatic’s suspicions immediately pointed out that Finn wanted to confess his love to Rey, something that had been hinted at in Episode VII: The Force Awakens and that in The Ascent of Skywalker once again gained relevance in the scene in which Poe Dameron gets into the conversation between them, which sparked conversations about a possible love triangle.
But to end any suspicion about Finn’s probable feelings towards Rey, the film’s director and co-writer, J. J. Abrams, has come out to say what this whole mess is all about.
As part of a question and answer session, the filmmaker said that Finn wanted to tell Rey that he is Force-sensitive, something that had also been suggested in The Force Awakens and that throughout The Ascent of Skywalker is repeated several times.
If you remember, in The Force Awakens Finn is able to fight with a lightsaber, even though he has no training for it, and in The Ascent of Skywalker he can feel presences in the distance.
In addition to Abrams’ statements, John Boyega, who brought Finn to life, posted on his Twitter that his character was never going to tell Rey that he loved her.
For many, the fact that Finn wanted to tell Rey that he is Force-sensitive is absurd, since that had already been raised between the lines since The Force Awakens.
