Bob Dylan sells his music rights to Universal Music

Business News

The record company Universal Music has bought the rights to the complete music from Bob Dylan. In total, the American singer has written about 600 songs. Universal Music Publishing Group announced this today.

The biggest takeover
According to various sources, this would be the largest acquisition of copyrights to music. It is not known how much Universal Music had to pay for this, but the amount is estimated at approximately 300 million dollars.

Waiver of Income
With the sale of his music, the singer renounces the income he generates with his current music. Universal Music has not been granted any rights over future music.

In total, Dylan has released about 39 albums since the beginning of his career. His most recent album, Rough and Rowdy Ways, was released earlier this year.
