Amazon has surprised by noting that it will support the Marijuana Opportunity Elimination and Reinvestment Act of 2021 (MORE Act), a federal legislation that would legalize marijuana at the federal level in the United States.

The company, which seeks to be the “safest workplace on Earth,” says it hopes the legislation will be accepted soon and more companies will join the initiative.

The MORE Act, in addition to legalizing the recreational use of marijuana, wants to eliminate criminal records and invest in impacted communities.

In this context, Amazon has also indicated that it will begin to treat marijuana in its workers as if it were alcohol. That does not include the fact that you smoke during work hours, but you can do it at home outside of work.

“We will no longer include marijuana in our comprehensive drug screening program for any position not regulated by the Department of Transportation and will instead treat it in the same way as alcohol use. We will continue to do impairment checks at work and will screen all drugs and alcohol after any incident, ”the company says.

“Thank you for all that you do every day to help us on our journey to become the best employer and safest workplace on Earth. It will take time, investment, invention and determination, and we will continue to share updates with you as we Let’s move on. We are very proud of all our teams that help us improve every day, “Amazon concludes.
