Marissa Jamarik, DNP, RN, has joined Beaufort (S.C.) Memorial Hospital as vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer.
As CNO of the 201-bed hospital, Dr. Jamarik will oversee nursing professional development, workforce initiatives and lead efforts to advance patient care, according to a March 2 news release.
Dr. Jamarik brings decades of nursing leadership experience to the role. Most recently, she served as senior vice president and CNO of Roper St. Francis Healthcare in Charleston, S.C., overseeing 2,000 nurses at the four-hospital system. During her tenure, she led workplace stabilization efforts, which improved nurse retention year over year and reduced vacancy rates.
She succeeds Karen Carroll, DNP, RN, as CNO of Beaufort Memorial. Dr. Carroll shared plans to retire in January, after 46 years at the hospital, including the last 26 as CNO.
