OpenAI has acquired Torch, a healthcare startup focused on unifying lab results, medication data and visit recordings.
The company announced the deal in a post on X.
“Bringing this together with ChatGPT Health opens up a new way to understand and manage your health,” OpenAI wrote in the post.
CNBC, citing sources familiar with the matter, reported that OpenAI purchased Torch for approximately $60 million. Torch employees will join OpenAI as part of the acquisition, according to the report.
Torch CEO Ilya Abyzov said in a separate post on X that the team will help “build ChatGPT Health into the best AI tool in the world for health and wellness.”
The acquisition comes shortly after OpenAI unveiled OpenAI for Healthcare, a suite of AI products designed to support clinical and administrative work at hospitals and health systems. The company also introduced ChatGPT Health, a feature that allows users to securely integrate personal health information with ChatGPT to better understand and manage health-related questions.
