Ohio hospital launches pharmacy technician program

Press Release

Cincinnati-based Mercy Health and Toledo (Ohio) Public Schools have partnered to launch a pharmacy technician training program for high school students in Toledo, according to an April 17 report by WTOL11.

The program enables students to earn a pharmacy technician trainee license while gaining hands-on experience in hospital pharmacies across Mercy Health’s system. It is designed to prepare students for careers after graduation while helping address regional workforce needs.

The inaugural class included four students, with plans to expand enrollment to about 24 students next year.

Mercy Health President Bob Baxter said the initiative aims to address healthcare workforce shortages by building a pipeline of locally trained talent.
