NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull appointed Clifford Miller as COO, effective March 30.
Mr. Miller has held various leadership roles at the New York City-based hospital for the past 11 years. Most recently, he served as associate executive director of emergency services, overseeing daily operations of an emergency department with nearly 90,000 annual visits. In that role, he also led hospitalwide capacity management efforts, driving improvements in patient flow, throughput and emergency department overcrowding through Lean performance strategies, according to an April 1 news release.
His responsibilities extended beyond the ED to include patient transportation, admitting and other access points, giving him a systemwide view of how to optimize capacity and coordinate care delivery across high-volume, high-acuity settings. Mr. Miller has also played a key role in the hospital’s emergency preparedness and crisis response efforts.
Prior to joining NYC Health + Hospitals from NewYork-Presbyterian, Mr. Miller served as vice president of emergency services at NewYork-Presbyterian’s Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in New York City.
