Pittsburgh-based Highmark Health delivered $27.9 million in value in 2025 from an AI assistant developed with Google Cloud.
The payer-provider’s employees have now prompted the generative AI tool, Sidekick, over 6 million times, and the application has 74 active use cases, compared to 31 the year prior, according to a March 5 Google Cloud blog post.
Some of the new features include a synthetic audience for surveys and focus groups, AI search for internal apps, collaborative workbooks for codevelopment, and real-time information integration from Google search for fact verification and research.
Highmark Health subsidiary Allegheny Health Network, a 14-hospital system also based in Pittsburgh, uses Sidekick to draft research protocols.
