UAB Health taps inaugural chief nurse

Birmingham, Ala.-based UAB Health System has selected Terri Poe, DNP, to serve as inaugural chief nursing executive.

Dr. Poe has served as vice president and chief nursing officer of UAB Hospital — UAB Medicine’s flagship facility — since 2014. In her new role, she will lead nursing operations across the entire UAB Medicine enterprise, with a particular focus on standardizing practice, as well as professional development and support for nurses. Dr. Poe joined UAB as director of emergency services in 2009. 

Her new role took effect Jan. 1, the health system said in a Jan. 12 news release. 

UAB Medicine operates a network of affiliate hospitals and outpatient centers across Alabama, anchored by its 1,200-bed academic medical center in Birmingham.
