The West Lafayette (Ind.) City Council approved a rezoning request required for Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Parkview Health to build a $200 million full-service hospital and medical building.
The 8-0 vote was given at a Feb. 2 city council meeting.
The 40-bed hospital will include an emergency department, four operating rooms, specialty care, outpatient services, laboratory and imaging, and shell space for expansion.
The West Lafayette project represents the system’s commitment to expanding access to high-quality, affordable healthcare, Greg Johnson, DO, chief physician executive of growth and emerging markets at Parkview Health, said in a Feb. 3 statement shared with Becker’s.
The system will collaborate with local leaders, Purdue University and residents as it enters the next phase of planning and development. The hospital is expected to open in 2028, according to Parkview’s presentation at the city council meeting.
“Parkview Health is grateful to the West Lafayette City Council for its thoughtful review and support of our rezoning request,” Dr. Johnson said. “We are excited for the opportunity to join the West Lafayette community and to contribute to the growing landscape of healthcare services in the region.”
Parkview Health operates 15 hospitals. In January, the system signed a letter of intent with Goshen (Ind.) Health to explore a partnership that would make the hospital Parkview’s largest outside of Fort Wayne.
