Four things to know:
1. The plans approved by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services include a hospital in Leland and a freestanding emergency department in Carolina Shores, according to a March 30 health system news release.
2. The planned Novant Health Leland Medical Center will include a 24/7 emergency department, imaging services, 10 observation beds and five procedure rooms.
3. Novant Health also plans to open an ambulatory surgery center in Leland in 2026 and expand services at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center’s Bolivia campus, including an expanded MRI space and a cardiac catheterization laboratory.
4. The projects are intended to expand access to care in Brunswick County, which the system identified as the fastest-growing county in North Carolina.
