NewYork-Presbyterian hospital taps UChicago leader as OB-GYN chief

Press Release

NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital in New York City has named Ryan Longman, MD, chief of obstetrics and gynecology; he took over the role Jan. 12.

Dr. Longman will also serve as associate professor of clinical obstetrics and gynecology at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City. He joins NewYork-Presbyterian from UChicago Medicine, where he served as section chief of ultrasound, genetics and fetal neonatal care.

In his new role, Dr. Longman will lead a multidisciplinary team providing prenatal, postpartum and routine women’s health services. He will also oversee the launch of an expanded maternity center at Lower Manhattan Hospital, expected to open later in 2026, and help guide the broader improvement and expansion of women’s health services across the hospital.

Dr. Longman brings expertise in maternal-fetal medicine, genetics and early diagnosis of gynecological conditions. His clinical focus includes using advanced ultrasound for early diagnosis of fetal anomalies and improving imaging for conditions such as endometriosis.
