MUSC Health names hospital CEO

MUSC Health-Orangeburg (S.C.) named Matthew Medley CEO, effective March 9.

Mr. Medley will lead the hospital’s senior leadership team and report to the CEO of MUSC Health’s Charleston Division, according to a March 13 health system news release. He will also serve on the MUSC Health-Charleston Division executive leadership committee.

Mr. Medley most recently served as COO of the MUSC Health-Midlands Division, a role he has held since 2023. In that position, he led initiatives to improve inpatient admissions, surgical volumes and operational revenue.

Before joining MUSC Health, Mr. Medley spent more than seven years at Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic, where he held several administrative leadership roles, including operations administrator at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla., and operations manager for cancer programs.

Charleston, S.C.-based MUSC is an academic health system that employs nearly 35,000 faculty, physicians and staff.
