Joel Beiswenger, CEO of Wadena, Minn.-based Astera Health, plans to retire July 1.
Mr. Beiswenger has led Astera Health since 1998, first serving as CFO and then as CEO since 2008, according to an April 6 health system news release. During his tenure, he oversaw the partnership with Wadena Medical Center, the creation of Astera Health from Tri-County Health Care and the development of a new hospital and cancer center serving residents in Wadena, Todd and Otter Tail counties.
The board appointed CFO Kim Aagard to serve as interim CEO while it conducts a search for a permanent successor.
Astera Health operates a hospital and medical clinic in Wadena and five satellite clinics across the region.
