Meditech expands AI capabilities in Expanse EHR

Press Release

Meditech is expanding the artificial intelligence capabilities of its Expanse EHR platform, introducing new tools aimed at easing clinical documentation, improving patient engagement and strengthening revenue cycle performance.

The company unveiled several updates in a March 10 news release, including native ambient intelligence for physicians and nurses.

Here are four things to know:

  1. The technology integrates directly into the Expanse Now mobile app for physicians and the Expanse Point of Care app for nurses, capturing conversations in real time to automatically generate visit notes and inpatient assessments.
  2. The nursing-focused tool can also parse patient interactions into documentation fields and provide prompts to help ensure assessments are complete.
  3. Meditech also introduced several additional AI tools, including Claim Denial Agents, which automatically analyze denied claims, identify root causes and draft appeal letters using clinical data from the EHR.
  4. Other announcements include MyHealth Assistant, an AI chatbot integrated into the MyHealth patient portal to help patients navigate the platform and schedule appointments, and Ask Expanse, a chatbot interface that allows clinicians to query patient records and generate administrative documents such as referral letters.

Meditech said the tools build on its existing AI portfolio and support its broader vision of the Expanse platform serving as an “orchestrator of care.”
