Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has formed a strategic partnership with Labcorp to improve development of specialized pediatric diagnostics.
The collaboration will combine CHOP’s pediatric research and clinical expertise with Labcorp’s infrastructure, scientific capabilities and commercialization expertise to identify, develop and expand new pediatric diagnostic tests and technologies. The collaboration will specifically look at tests in oncology, metabolic disease and autoimmune conditions, according to an April 13 system news release.
Pediatric-specific tests will deliver more accurate insights for children that account for their unique biology, developmental stages and psychological ranges — which are factors that are overlooked with traditional adult-oriented tests, the release said.
