Optum Ventures backs AI oncology startup in $12M investment

Optum Ventures is among the investors in a $11.1 million series A investment for Risa Labs, which is developing an AI operating system for oncology.

The venture capital arm of the UnitedHealth Group subsidiary co-led the funding round with Cencora Ventures, part of pharma company Cencora.

Risa Labs said the funding will accelerate the deployment of its platform at health systems, cancer clinics, speciality pharmacies and infusion networks across the U.S., according to a Jan. 13 news release. The startup aims to reduce administrative tasks, cut denials and speed up prior authorizations with AI.
