Lakeland (Fla.) Regional Health is expanding its freestanding emergency department network, with two new Florida locations over the next two years in the works, which will grow its network to three such facilities.
The first new freestanding ED will serve the Winter Haven (Fla.) area and open in mid-2027. It will be followed by a second site on U.S. 98 North at Marcum Road in Lakeland, which will open in early 2028. LRH opened its inaugural freestanding ED in March 2025, according to a news release shared with Becker’s.
Both locations will operate 24/7, with emergency services including CT scans, X-rays, ultrasounds and on-site labs. Lakeland (Fla.) Regional Health Medical Center will be “minutes away” from both freestanding EDs, the system said.
“As part of our strategic plan, we continue to expand access to our nationally recognized care,” Timothy Regan, MD, president of Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center and CMO of Lakeland Regional Health, said in the release. “We have proudly served our community for 110 years and look forward to continuing to provide exceptional and compassionate care for our neighbors close to home.”
