Forty-four lawsuits against Kettering (Ohio) Health over a 2025 ransomware attack have been consolidated into a single complaint.
The 14-hospital system was struck by the Interlock ransomware group in May 2025, causing the organization to shut down all 600 of its digital applications and have employees use paper records, cellphones and walkie-talkies.
Of the 44 complaints filed in Montgomery County (Ohio) Common Pleas Court, 37 allege delayed treatment and eight claim denial of care, with one alleging both, according to a March 6 news release from law firm Wright & Schulte LLC. Patients say appointments were rescheduled for months later, if at all, and that they experienced prescription delays.
“Kettering Health does not comment on pending litigation,” a health system spokesperson told Becker’s.
The plaintiffs are seeking compensatory damages exceeding $25,000, punitive damages, and attorney fees.
