Lebanon, Ind.-based Witham Health Services has signed a nonbinding letter of intent to join Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Parkview Health.
The 60-bed independent county hospital said the decision to join Parkview comes after consideration by its board of trustees and executive leadership, according to an April 7 news release. Witham President and CEO Kelly Braverman said that by joining Parkview, it can expand services and enhance clinical capabilities.
“It was important to choose a system that shares our values and our mission to improve the health of our community,” Ms. Braverman said in the release. “We wanted a leader in quality, and we’ve found that at Parkview.”
A definitive agreement is subject to the completion of due diligence, regulatory approvals and final authorization from the Boone County commissioners and council.
If the deal is finalized, Witham will continue to be governed by its own local board of trustees and the current executive team will continue to lead local operations, according to the hospital’s website. Witham’s board will add two new members that will be selected by Parkview.
Parkview Health currently operates 15 hospitals in Indiana and northwest Ohio.
