Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Erlanger is expanding responsibilities across several system-level leadership areas as the organization continues to evolve its governance and operational structure, according to a March 2 news release shared with Becker’s.
The seven-hospital health system said the expanded focus areas include clinical operations, quality, patient experience, strategy, innovation, business development, finance, revenue, payer relations, legal, information technology, marketing, communications and foundation leadership.
Leaders assuming broader responsibilities will work across facilities to better align priorities, share best practices and support systemwide outcomes, Erlanger said.
“These changes reflect our commitment to working as one team, one system in service of our mission to compassionately care for all,” Erlanger President and CEO Jim Coleman Jr. said in the release. “By connecting work across teams and sites, sharing best practices, and aligning priorities, we are better positioned to remain resilient and responsive as we deliver high-quality care, advance innovation, and serve our communities, today and in the future.”
The move builds on governance and leadership changes in recent years, including Erlanger’s 2023 transition to a private 501(c)(3) organization and subsequent executive restructuring.
In February, Fitch upgraded Erlanger’s credit rating to “A” from “A-,” citing sustained operating improvement, strong liquidity and a market share nearly twice that of its closest competitor.
