9 health systems moving to Epic

A growing number of hospitals are going live on Epic, part of a broader shift that has made the company the dominant player in the U.S. hospital EHR market.

Epic continued to lead the EHR market in 2024, posting its largest net gain on record as 10 major health systems selected the vendor for 108 hospitals, according to an April 30 KLAS report

Among smaller hospitals, Epic also dominated, with its Community Connect program capturing nearly 70% of all hospitals affected by EHR decisions in 2024, the report found. Epic held 42.3% of hospitals and 54.9% of beds in the acute care EHR market in 2024, compared to 22.9% of hospitals and 22.1% of beds for Oracle Health and 14.8% of hospitals and 12.7% of beds for Meditech. KLAS’ market share data reflects acute care EHR purchasing activity from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2024.
