Five Mississippi hospitals are getting ready to go live with Epic on Jan. 31.
South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, Magee General Hospital, Covington County Hospital in Collins, Simpson General Hospital in Mendenhall and Smith County Emergency Hospital in Raleigh started implementing the EHR together in January 2025.
They’re now preparing patients to switch over to the new MyChart patient portal, either through self-sign-up, receiving a URL by email or text while in the hospital or clinic, or via an activation code on printed after-visit summaries.
“MyChart marks a major step forward in patient‑centered care, setting the stage for a more connected and convenient healthcare experience,” South Central Epic analyst Cursten Newsome said in a Jan. 12 news release. “The process of signing up is quick and easy.”
South Central, a 285-bed public hospital that is leading the Epic consortium, hired 60 new employees for the EHR install in 2025.
